Suede Effect - Autumn/Winter Dressing with New Look Inspire*

Just in case you hadn't notice from my Autumn/Winter wishlist, I'm a wee bit preoccupied with the 70s trend this year.  So when New Look Inspire offered to send me some clothes from their Autumn/Winter collection, my first choice was obvious!

You don't really get more 70s than the suede effect, and the New Look Inspire range certainly has that look covered in all the shades I always associate with autumn; tan, black, and plum.

I was instantly drawn to the suede effect skirt that comes in a rich tanned colour.  The skirt sits beautifully at the natural waist line before skimming out across the hips in a subtle a-line shape.  The suede-effect material is lighter than true suede but still holds the shape well.

I was nervous that the skirt would be an ultra mini length on me, meaning I'd be unable to wear it for work as I'd be nervous of flashing my pants when climbing stairs or bending to retrieve printed pages (this has happened far too many times for my liking).  Luckily, the skirt sits beautifully above my knee making it an elegant length on my 5ft10 frame.

I chose to pair the skirt with a suede-effect camisole.  I love the v-neck and soft feel of the faux-suede.   The top is tucked nicely into the skirt here but is actually pretty long on me, the hem sitting across my hip bones.  I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of this top, teaming it with pleather leggings and skinny jeans for colder months and short shorts come next summer.

The top has a slight swing to it when not tucked in and has quite an amazing back that sweeps fairly low!

I'm wearing an old Jaegar coat in my favourite autumn colour of plum.  I bought it from Boundary Mills years ago for a measly £75 (down from around £400) and it has seen me through many a cold winter.

I'm also wearing an old pair of New Look boots, again bought years ago.  The legs on these are fairly wide so they're great for wearing with warm winter socks during the colder months.

I really love simple looks like this.  They are so easy to throw together and I love that I can wear both the skirt and the camisole in so many different ways.   I am also really impressed with the quality of materials used as well as the fit of  both items.
