The Kelly Brook - Zip Front Jacquard Dress from Simply Be

Who doesn't love Kelly Brook?  I mean, the girl is sheer beauty and her fashion sense is to die for!  So naturally, I got a little bit squiffy with excitement when Simply Be released another fashion range by the lady herself.

The collection is swoon-worthy and it took me a long time to decide on that one piece I could buy - unfortunately, my bank balance doesn't allow me to buy the entire collection!

It is an incredibly versatile piece that I can wear on a night out with girls, to a laid back summer picnic, or even to the office.

I style it hear as I would for a night out - the strong geometric print goes great with the popping red of  my L. K. Bennet heels and slick of matching lipstick.

The dress has a fair amount of stretch to it - this means that there is plenty of boob room which allows the waist of the dress to sit on my actual waist - too often the waist of a dress sits immediately under my boobs, which take up far too much of the material.

I was a little worried about a zip sitting at the front of the dress - I had visions of my boobs bursting through the zip and revealing themselves to all and sundry! I needn't have worried - the zip is smooth to zip up and strong enough to contain the fuller figured lady.

The skirt is very full, which lends the dress an added playfulness - it also really accentuates my waist.   The material is quite stiff so it holds its shape very well.  It also prevented the skirt from flipping inside-out around my waist whilst taking these pictures - it was terribly windy ...

The skirt is fairly short, but I quite like my pins come summer!  The fullness of the skirt also makes my legs look longer and slimmer - an added plus that I love.

The one downside of the dress is the sleeves.  They're a little tight - not visibly so, but enough for me to feel the need to faff with them quite a bit.    I do have slightly over developed arms from swimming - but not enough to normally worry about sleeves being tight so it's a little unusual that this is the case with this dress.

Priced at £50, this isn't the cheapest of Simply Be dresses but I don't feel its over priced.

It had an edge to it that I struggle to find in many dresses - the print is phenomenal, the structure is fantastic, and it has a genuine feel of quality to it.

There are a few reviews on the website suggesting that the dress comes up small.  I would disagree with these - I'm wearing a size 18 and it fits beautifully.  There is plenty of room across my chest and shoulders and the waist could come in further (which is typical of any size 18 dress on me).  With the exception of the arms, I would say the dress is very true to size.

The dress is available in sizes 10 - 32 but be quick - many of the styles are marked as low stock already.

Have you tried any of the Kelly Brook for Simply Be range?  What's your favourite?

    1. Gotta admit, I may be a bit vain about my legs in these photos! Not sure if its the dress of the shoes but there's something I really like!

  2. I think this is so cute. As a top heavy lady, I struggle with boob room. But this dress looks incredibly comfortable and flattering for curvier girls!

    1. Thank you Ashley!

I know what you mean about the top-heavy dress problem - I get it all the time. This dress has a fair amount of give in the fabric so is really quite forgiving.

    1. Thank you Hollie ... and yes, I agree - it would be great if longer (and wider) in the arms!

  4. This is very flattering on you. I feel like I have a hard time finding a 'basic' dress. Half the time I go and there are ruffles or gathers. This is so nice and simple, yet flattering, too.

I'm not sure I like the trend with the big zipper, though. I've been seeing it on a lot of fashion places (like project runway) and just can't feel the love for it.

    1. Ruffles & gathers seem to be all the rage at the moment ... that and cut out pieces - cause everyone wants a hole-y dress!

  5. Ahhh, think it would come up a lot longer on someone that isn't over 5ft10 - most skirts are basically belts on me!

  7. I need this dress! Looks sensational on you and the legs are looking lovely! I see they've only got it left in black and white but I am so in love with monochrome at the moment I am quite chuffed with a black and white version. But the blue is too cute too - this outfit is a bit Dorothy-esque to me. Gorgeous!
